Born Sammy Nthoke, Lekkersweet is KheloRap (A sub-genre that he coined) and Tsonga Rap
Artist from Limpopo, South Africa. Lekkersweet was born in Hlanganani Area, Tiyani Village
on the 16th of November 1989, and moved to Ditshosing Bolobedu in 1997 where he resides
even today. He is also a nominee in the South African Traditional Music Achievers (SATMA)
Awards 2013 in the category Best Hip Hop Album. In 2010, he went to USA through a
scholarship by the US Embassy to study English and Leadership. That is where he managed to
also perform his music during the international students’ event in Newark, University of
He obtained his BA in Communications and BA Honours Degree in Media Studies in 2012 and
2013 respectively. He worked as a Hip Hop show host and Technical Manager at Radio Turf
from 2013 until 2018.
He was featured on the following Publications: New Age, Daily Sun, Eyenews News paper,
Rise and Shine and University of Limpopo’s Ke Yaka Magazine, Bonus Review and UL Witness

He got interviewed and his music is played on Radio stations such as Thobela FM, Capricorn
FM, Radio Turf, Sekgosese FM, Greater Tzaneen FM, Moletji FM, Greater Lebowakgomo, Alex
FM, Sloot FM, Voice of Tembisa FM, Energy FM and Munghana Lonene FM.
He was recently featured in SABC 2 New Xitsonga Drama, Giyani – Land of blood where he
played the role of a policeman. Lekkersweet was featured in Mikasi Sukasi, SABC 1 in April
- He was also featured, as an Actor in Isibaya (Mzansi Magic May 2018) as well as The
River (1 Magic, April 2018). On the 4th of July 2018 he was featured on Etv’s Hip Hop Show,
Shiz Live. He also appeared on Limpopo TV/Tshwane TV where he was doing an accapella,
rhyming in Khelobedu. Koze Kuse on SABC 1 playlisted and rotated the music video of MWS
remix ft Spacemunna. His song Bomba was featured on e.tv’s in April 2017. His Yellowbone
music video which he did with Dr Morwana is currently playlisted on Soweto TV.
He also holds a Degree in Communication Studies and Honours in Media Studies. The
University of Limpopo Media Studies 2016 Film Class shot his music Video for a song called
Bomba as part of the practical examination. The song was also featured in ETV’s Rhythm City
for a week. He uses Khelobedu and Xitsonga in his lyrics and he came up with a new sub-genre
called KheloRap (Khelobedu Rap). This multi-lingual vernacular Hip Hop artist raps in
Khelobedu, Xitsonga, Venda and English. His music is a fusion of Hip Hop and Kwaito. He is
also Hip Hop show producer, Host and an overall Station’s Sound editor at Radio Turf.
