It has been weeks since Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane has been in suspension for using foul language in his popular Fresh Breakfast show.
Why is DJ Fresh suspended from SABC?
The popular DJ and radio host has cast out onto the sidelines by the public broadcaster after a listener, Daniel Mokwa, reported him to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) for using the term ‘msunery’ — a colloquial descriptive word that, translated in English, refers to the female genitalia — on air.
Since his departure, the show’s popularity has waned. While loyalists have remained to the ‘Fresh Breakfast‘ slot, most have expressed their discontent with the way in which Fresh’s replacement has manned the ship in the absence of its captain.
Fresh finally speaks out
For the most part of the three weeks since his suspension, Fresh has had very little to say about his situation with the public broadcaster.
