Maimane Alfred Phiri 2020 games have been pushed further to September-October following the Corona Virus pandemic.
The township football festival that attracts thousands of South Africans from different provinces who enjoy ‘kasi flavor’ was started by a former footballer from Alexandra, Maimane Phiri in 2001.
The tournament has produced football talents Such as Kaizer Chiefs’ Lebogang Manyama, Cape Town City’s Mpho Makola to name a few.
In a statement released by the MAP they said due to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown the MAP games LOC have taken a decision to postpone the MAP games 2020 which was supposed to take place from 23 May 2020 to 19 July 2020.
The statement further thanked security services including SAPS, SANDF and essential workers who are at the forefront of fighting the pandemic.
The games entertain football lovers while economically boost local entrepreneurs in the fast food sector.
