Mini buses at Alexandra taxi ranks are adhering to the lockdown regulation of 70% passengers capacity.
A 14 seater Toyota Quantam minibus (taxi) that was seen leaving 15th avenue taxi rank to Johannesburg town had only 10 passengers sitting far away from each other making sure the 1meter physical distancing was practiced.

One taxi driver who we spoke to said work wasn’t well as normally pre corona a full load is R182.00 for a 14 sitter and R195.00 for a 15 sitter and now with 10 people being allowed in one taxi a load will be R130.00 making it hard to give the owner the initial amount that was agreed upon.

Although the price of petrol and diesel have dropped rapidly, it is quite hard making money when there’s only a few, selected people on the streets needing service of mini buses.

The taxis are also available until the time set by the minister of transport. 5am to 9am and 4pm to 8pm.
