Many football fans which have been asking themselves of when SAFA may give the Premiere Soccer League (PSL) and other leagues both national and regional a green light to get back to the field will be disappointed to know that SAFA is looking at level 1 of the risk adjustment (lockdown) to resume with football.
From the 1st of May South Africa will be moving to level 4 of the risk adjusted strategy for economic activity in the country which will allow for certain industries including mines, clothing stores and other essential needed by a regular South African to survive.
Speaking to Robert Marawa on his SABC show SAFA’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Thulani Ngwenya said they are looking at level 1 of the lockdown to get back to the field as soccer is a contact sports and it wouldn’t work as it could equal to disaster trying to get back to the field of sports.
Dr Ngwenya explained how soccer players release so much bodily fluids when they have been playing. Players continuously spit randomly and those fluids could be of danger during the pandemic.
