The Johannesburg region may be in for thunderstorm this evening according to a statement released by the disaster management center.
According to the South African Weather Services National Forecasting Centre a level 2 impact based warning for the potential of severe thunderstorms over parts of the city of Johannesburg has been issued for Wednesday 30 September between 10am to 9pm.
Based on the warning, there is a high risk of minor to severe impact in places over parts of Gauteng. The thunderstorm formations will start in the early afternoon and reach their maximum intensity around 17H00.
It is predicted that the storm pockets would be associated with severe lighting, localised flash flooding, reduced driving visibility and or damaging winds.
